Next Match its Manchester United vs Manchester City. Who will win?
United started their quest to regain the European crown with a 1-0 victory over Besiktas, with Paul Scholes heading the only goal 13 minutes from time.
However, the success was achieved without Ferdinand, who was forced to sit out a tight match in Istanbul with a groin injury.
The England international, who only returned from a calf injury in last weekend's 3-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur, is now facing a race against time to be fit for the visit of Manchester City on Sunday.

Manchester United defeats Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur 1-3 Manchester United
Goals by Ryan Giggs, Anderson and Rooney.

Manchester United brought Tottenham Hotspur's unbeaten start to an end after coming back from behind.
United were a goal down after a minute and reduced to 10 men but still recorded victory in a pulsating match at White Hart Lane that ended Tottenham's 100 per cent start to the Barclays Premier League season.
Jermain Defoe's acrobatic strike opened the scoring but United have a history of comebacks against Spurs - 5-2 last season and 5-3 eight years ago - and they levelled through Ryan Giggs' free-kick.
Anderson drilled home before the break, and despite playing the last half an hour without Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney sealed victory with a cool finish before the end.

Manchester United 2-1 Arsenal
Andrey Arshavin capped a brilliant first half by putting Arsenal ahead and if Ben Foster had not denied Robin van Persie with a brilliant feet-first save, Arsenal would probably have won.
Instead, Wayne Rooney won a penalty when he went down under Manuel Almunia's challenge, and scored it himself before Abou Diaby turned Ryan Giggs' free-kick into his own net to give the hosts their victory.
Van Persie thought he had equalised deep into stoppage time but his effort was ruled out for an offside against William Gallas, and Arsene Wenger's protest against the disallowed goal led to him being sent from the dug-out.
